Sound Insulation Performance in Glass Curtain Wall
The air sound insulation level of general building curtain walls is level 3. All-glass curtain walls using 10~19mm single-piece glass and ordinary insulating glass can meet the requirements. If the sound insulation level is required to reach level 4, ordinary insulating glass may not be able to meet the requirements.
In order to improve the sound insulation performance of insulating glass, we must find ways to improve the structure of insulating glass, as follows:
(1) Use “soft connection” to avoid sound bridge phenomenon.
(2) Increase the damping of glass. PVB film has a certain blocking effect on sound waves, thereby effectively blocking the propagation of sound. If laminated glass is used to synthesize an insulating glass structure, its effect of increasing glass damping will be greater.
(3) Use asymmetric glass. Since the glass material, size, thickness and boundary constraints are the same, each layer of glass has the same natural frequency and is prone to resonance, thereby stimulating low-frequency vibration of the glass itself and generating secondary noise radiation.
